In today’s music industry, Yamaha is arguably one of the most influential entities. The beginning of Yamaha
The story begins all the back into the late 1800s and involves a man named Torakusu Yamaha. But the interesting thing here is, he was a watchmaker back in the day. He also had his watchmaking business. But fortunately, that did not work out so well; otherwise, we wouldn’t have the opportunity to glide through the world of music with the elegant products of Yamaha today.
He then switched to repairing various medical equipment, a job that brought him to different towns. While in a city named Hamamatsu, he got called from an elementary school to fix a reed organ. While repairing, he thought about how these products would sell throughout Japan.
And there and then, the company Yamaha was born.
He started working on his reed organ’s porotype and presented the final product to one of Japan’s most prestigious music institutes.
But unfortunately, the product was not received well and was criticized for its poor tuning. It inspired Torakusu to study in-depth music theory. And by 1914, he had made a company that exported portable reed organ, Piano, Harmonica worldwide.
The Yamaha over the years
From then on, the company kept growing and turned into a music Giant. In the early 1970s, when IC started to replace transistors, they decided to make IC of their own.
It opened the door for the company to make world-class electronic keyboards and various audio devices. Sooner the Yamaha adopted the conversion of digital keyboards from the Analog format. Later that year, the company brought new products to their lineups such as electric piano and synthesizer.
Over the years, Yamaha opted into all the latest Recording studios in las vegas and music technology, which led them to make their first digital mixer in 1987.
While other companies did not embrace technology, Yamaha tried everything and was open to the new, Wholeheartedly.
